Cleaning and Conservation of Paintings

We offer a comprehensive conservation service to a broad spectrum of clients worldwide – private and corporate collectors, institutions, international dealers and auctioneers. Our team of conservators has long experience in dealing with all aspects of picture conservation. This comprises: treatment of paintings of all periods, mediums and supports – canvas lining, panel stabilisation, cleaning, restoration and varnishing; preservation, cleaning, repair and mounting of works on paper.

We provide condition appraisals and estimates for recommended conservation work, at our studios, in situ or prior to anticipated purchase.

Illustrated here are paintings from private collections – mainly purchased at auction – in the process of cleaning and restoration. These comprise a Holy Family by Sassoferrato; a Dutch 17thC portrait of a girl showing re-touching in ultra-violet light; a Venetian view by Francesco Guardi; an English 18thC horse painting and an early 19thC full-length portrait of a lady, including frame conservation and re-gilding.
