This superb Roman 18thC parcel-gilt walnut frame with applied openwork carved acanthus leaf mouldings in limewood, was chosen by our client for reproduction from the original surrounding Jacob and Rachel at the Well, by Filipo Lauri, Statens Museum, Copenhagen.
Botticelli's long neglected masterpiece, in an incongruous Victorian frame and obscured by darkened varnish, was acquired by The National Galleries of Scotland in 2000. They recognised that its originally intended grandeur could only be conveyed by re-creating an authentic tabernacle frame setting. Following meticulous research of Florentine late 15th century models, this entirely hand carved frame with distressed water gilding and inscriptions was created in our workshops.

The most sensational discovery of modern times, this magnificent work by Rubens, painted in Antwerp after his inspirational trip to Italy, sold in July 2002 at Sotheby's for almost £50 million. The new owner commissioned from us a replica of a period Flemish ebonised frame, hand made in antique oak, in which it now hangs on loan to London's National Gallery.
